On Christmas Eve, 1996, Sony Wonder and the CTW re released The Toy That Saved Christmas on VHS, and then on December 22, 1998, they re issued it again to promote the VeggieTales Christmas Spectacular.
Differences[]
- Both versions contain previews, but the 1996 CTW VHS contains a preview for Elmo Saves Christmas/ A Sesame Street Christmas/Elmo's Night Before Christmas, while the 1998 CTW VHS has the same previews as the VHS of The End of Silliness.
- They both have the Sony Wonder FBI Warning screen, followed by the Sony Wonder logo and a special variant of the 1983 CTW logo with jingling bells.
- The 1998 CTW VHS shows the VeggieTales Christmas Spectacular version of The Toy That Saved Christmas instead of the old animation.
Trivia[]
- This is the only VeggieTales video to have The Best of Elmo variant of the 1983 Children's Television Workshop logo. After that release, the regular version came back to use on LarryBoy and the Fib from Outer Space, after previously being used on Where's God When I'm S Scared, God Wants Me to Forgive Them, Are You My Neighbor, Rack Shack & Benny, and Dave and the Giant Pickle.
- This is the only re release to retain the 1983 CTW logo. The other re releases from 1998 and 1999 replace it with the Play It Smart variant of the 1997 CTW logo.
