The Adventures of Junior in Joke-A-Lot: A VeggieTales Movie is a 2024 American animated Christian musical adventure comedy film produced by Big Idea Productions loosely based on Sesame Street movie: The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland.

Plot[]

One day, Junior Asparagus plays with his blanket in his bedroom in his apartment. He spills orange juice on his blanket and takes it to the laundromat. Afterward, he runs into his friend Laura Carrot. Laura wants to hold the blanket, but Junior does not consent to sharing it, resulting in a tug of war that causes it to rip. Upset, Junior declares to Laura that she is not his friend anymore. Bacon Bill, roller skating out of control, comes and accidentally swipes the blanket, leading to a chase around VeggieTown. The blanket ends up falling into the hands of Charlie Pincher, who sneezes on it and drops it in his trash can. Unwilling to wait for Charlie to return, Junior dives into the bottom of the trash can, where he finds his blanket snagged on a door.

Attempting to retrieve it, he and his blanket are then teleported through a colorful swirling tunnel to Joke-A-Lot, a medieval city filled with Fruits, Vegetables, Pranks, and Gresley, a greedy Green Onion who loves to steal anything he comes across, including Junior's blanket. A kind Pepper girl named Priscilla tells Junior that his blanket is in Gresley's castle at the top of the faraway Mount Pickanose. A plant named Stuckweed encourages Junior that he will make it if he just takes his first step, so Junior sets out on a quest to retrieve his blanket.

With Charlie's help, some of the VeggieTales Gang (Bob, Larry, Laura, Bacon Bill, Mike, Lisa, Jimmy, Jerry, Pa, Mr. Lunt, Mr. Nezzer, Archibald and The French Peas) go Joke-A-Lot to find Junior, but when they encounter a Celery Medieval Guard and try to ask him for assistance, they end up getting arrested as they are informed that it is against the law to ask for help in Joke-A-Lot, and they get sent to Dungeon.

Gresley has his Broccoli sidekick, Bill and his minions, the Radishes, trap Junior in a cave. Junior gets out with the help of fireflies who show him a way out. Gresley then has Bill and the Radishes misdirect Junior into a Queen's Palace where he is brought before the Queen of Roots for trespassing. Her citizens think that he might be a spy for Gresley, so the Queen tests Junior, requesting that he blows 100 raspberries for her in 30 seconds. Junior succeeds with some help from the audience and the Queen allows him to pass through. Gresley sends in a giant chicken to stop Junior, who tosses Junior far away. Junior decides to give up on retrieving his blanket for the night. Meanwhile, Priscilla sneaks into the jail where she informs Junior's friends that he has gone to Gresley's castle. After admitting that Junior is his friend, Charlie convinces all the Residents of Joke-A-Lot to cooperate, since it is the only way they can stop Gresley from stealing any more of their trash. The Dungeon releases the VeggieTales Gang so they and the Residents can go to Gresley's castle to fight for their trash and rescue Junior.

Early the next morning, a Grasshopper wakes Junior up and convinces him that he has what it takes to be brave. Junior then arrives at Gresley's castle and rescues his blanket as Gresley sends the Radishes to stop him. Junior falls into a basket as Gresley decides to make him and his blanket both his property by using a claw to put them on his conveyor stamper. The VeggieTales gang and Joke-A-Lot citizens arrive and Gresley tries to escape with Junior's blanket, only to have the blanket sucked up with the vacuum cleaner nozzle on his helicopter. Junior launches a basket over Gresley's shoulders, incapacitating him. Bill, who has been sympathetic to Junior, is revealed to be at the controls of the helicopter, and refuses Gresley's demand for the blanket, instead returning it to Junior.

Junior returns to Veggietown with his friends, where he apologizes to Laura and allows her to hold his blanket. She accepts his apology, agreeing that they can resume their friendship. Junior says goodbye to the audience, thanking them for helping.

Throughout the film, Bob The Tomato and Larry The Cucumber are occasionally shown interrupting the film to explain things to the audience.
