Red Light, Green Light

Red Light, Green Light is the first half of the second episode of season 5 of VeggieTales Kids.

Plot

At Larry the Cucumber's house, it's his birthday, and her mom asks her what he would like to do. Larry answers, that he would like to play some really fun games with his friends. Her mom asks him what game he would like to play, and he answers he would like to play the game Red Light, Green Light. Her mom asks him what Red Light Green Light is, and Larry answers that it's a game where you do your favorite activity, and when red light is called out you stop what you were doing. His mom answers that she heard of that game, and she knows someone perfect who leads the game and tells everyone what to do, and that someone is Bob the Tomato's dad, so she calls Bob the Tomato's dad on the phone and asks him if he wants to play the game during Larry the Cucumber's birthday party. Bob the Tomato's dad then answers that it's a great idea, and that he will come over at some point during Larry the Cucumber's birthday party. Larry's mom then asks Larry what time his party starts. Larry answers that the party starts at 3:00, and the game starts at 4:30. Larry the Cucumber's mom then gets back on the phone, telling Bob the Tomato's dad what Larry had said. Bob's dad answers that 3:00 would be a perfect time to come, and 4:30 would be a perfect time to play the game. A 1 hour later time card follows, and Bob the Tomato's dad, along with Bob the Tomato himself, Pa Grape, Mr. Lunt, Mr. Nezzer, Madame Blueberry, Jimmy and Jerry Gourd, and Archibald Asparagus all arrive. Bob the Tomato tells Larry it's time to sing happy birthday, and eat his cake, and open his presents, then Bob's dad is playing Red Light Green Light. A 1 hour later time card follows, and Larry is already opening his presents. A 30 minutes later time card follows, and Bob the Tomato's dad leads everyone to the game of Red Light Green Light. Larry plays his tuba, until Bob's dad says red light, then Larry stops, and laughs saying that it's a very fun game. Bob's dad then calls his son Bob to do a part of Red Light Green Light, and Bob impersonates Arthur Read from Arthur. Bob the Tomato's dad then laughs and says that was a very good impression. Then he calls Mr. Nezzer, and Mr. Nezzer punches Larry's mom really hard in the eye. Larry's mom then sobs hysterically in pain and Mr. Nezzer says he did not mean to do that, and he was about to get something.Then, Bob's dad calls Archibald Asparagus,and much to his surprise, he wins the game. Bob, Larry and Jimmy feel a little bummed that they lost the game, but Bob's dad tells Bob, Larry, and Jimmy not to worry, because all that matters is having fun. Larry says that he's right, and that was a fun game they played. Then, Larry laughs, then everyone else joins in laughing and the episode fades out.

Trivia

• The sound of Bob the Tomato's dad calling out the words "Green light!" "Red light!" was recycled audio of Clifford the Big Red Dog calling those words in a Clifford's Big Idea segment from the second season of Clifford the Big Red Dog.
• This and Larry's New Kitten, were the first VeggieTales Kids episodes from season 5 to use the funding on a red background and the Snowglobe variannt of the 2002 PBS Kids logo.
• This episode uses an alternate version of the second common VeggieTales Kids season 5 track, which is a higher pitched E major version of the music heard at the end of the Clifford the Big Red Dog episode That's Snow Lie. In That's Snow Lie, it was played in C major. The E major version was partially heard in Clifford the Big Red Dog, but it wasn't actually completed in that show, and instead was completed in VeggieTales Kids, starting with this episode, where at the end of the piece the last 3 notes are recycled from the end of the Clifford the Big Red Dog episode Cleo's Valentine Surprise. The track was heard at the end of some episodes from seasons 5 and onward, with it's only time being absent in season 6. and (in season 7) was used at the end of sports related episodes of VeggieTales Kids.
• The sound of Bob the Tomato's dad laughing was recycled audio of Clifford laughing in many Clifford the Big Red Dog episodes, and the sound of Mr. Nezzer laughing was recycled audio of T-Bone the yellow bulldog, also from many Clifford the Big Red Dog episodes, including Magic in the Air.
