Mr. Lunt

Mr. Lunt is one of the main characters from VeggieTales. He is usually paired up with Mr. Nezzer.

Bio[]

In his first appearance, he worked alongside Mr. Nezzer at his chocolate factory, and follows every order he tells him to do. He later worked for his brother in Dinkletown when they planned to produce the Buzz-Saw Louie toys. He now appears as a recurring character, having different obligations in nearly every episode.

Physical Appearance[]

Mr. Lunt is a yellow decorative gourd with a dark brown/black mustache. He often wears a beige Panama hat and uses the brim for expression. In the Netflix series, he looks relatively the same, but now wears a white suit and has an additional goatee, and he no longer has a gold tooth. He changed back to his normal design for The VeggieTales Show, albeit with his hat's brim being changed to a light beige color.

Fun Facts[]

He has a Hispanic accent.
According to Phil Vischer, Mr. Lunt was loosely based on and inspired by Greasy, one of the Weasels of Judge Doom's Toon Patrol in the 1988 animated-live action hybrid film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
- Vischer has also stated Lunt's name comes from the name of an actual street located in Chicago: West Lunt Avenue.
Mr. Lunt's shape and size is inconsistent throughout the series.
- When he had played the role of Otis the Elevated in Duke and the Great Pie War, he was quite small, compared to his other appearances.
- His appearance is much wider and shorter, and in a triangular shape when he is in his Boyz in the Sink outfit, Going Up, and in VeggieTales in the House. It is unknown why this is.
In almost every show that he is in, Mr. Lunt has kept a mustache. The only two exceptions are in Going Up! and Lord of the Beans.
Many of Mr. Lunt's designs have been recycled from others previously used. For example, his designs in The Ballad of Little Joe and Sumo of the Opera both feature the same mustache, body shape, and hairstyle. And, the bandana from his Boyz in the Sink attire is similar to that of his pirate outfit, albeit tied tighter.
He is the only main character to have cross-dressed for roles that he has played.
Much like Pa Grape, he is one of the few characters to not have any visible eyes.
- During the pre-production of Big Idea's second feature film, Mr. Lunt's outfit was initially designed to more closely resemble his classic pirate attire with his forehead covered. Universal Pictures' executives requested that Lunt would be given eyes to let him show more emotion as a character. After having artists experiment with various concept sketches of him with eyes, the Big Idea team ultimately found the designs uncanny and very unappealing. In the end, it was decided Mr. Lunt did not need any eyes for the film.
In Mr. Lunt's own love song His Cheeseburger, it was revealed that Mr. Lunt doesn't have any visible eyes whatsoever.
Phil stated on Twitter that the backstory of Mr. Lunt's golden tooth was that "it was part of his gangster outfit (even in his debut appearance) and it stayed with him."
It is unclear if Mr. Lunt has a first name. At one point, a fan asked Phil on Twitter about Mr. Lunt's first name, guessing it to be "Karl". Phil replied, liking the idea, but said it's probably just "Mister".
According to the official Jonah website, if he weren't an actor, he would be president of Moose Lodge 1407.
NOTE: The following facts are gathered from the "Larry and Mr. Lunt" commentary from Jonah. They are not from any official episode and therefore these facts are not confirmed to be official canon.
- He says that he produced Jonah alongside Larry, despite not being credited in the film.
- He has a stepfather who is an electrician. (The whereabouts of his biological father is unknown.)
- He went to the Culinary Academy of Louisiana with Larry the Cucumber.
- Despite working as a filmmaker, he did not go to film school.
  - He took a film correspondence class through mail and the internet. He got a C- (although he thinks his score was rigged).
- He spent time at the Second City improve club in Chicago, Illinois.
- The animated Disney film The Little Mermaid was what inspired him to pursue filmmaking.
  - Additionally, another one of Disney's films, The Black Cauldron, made Mr. Lunt want to pursue a career in cooking.
- Despite previously stating that he grew up in New Jersey, Mr. Lunt says that he also grew up in Pasadena, California.
- He had a grandmother who joined the circus.
According to a Boyz in the Sink coloring page spoofing Bad Teen Idol magazines, Mr. Lunt's age is confirmed to be 36.
According to A Lifetime Supply of Joy, his favorite kind of cookie is Choco-Fudge Nuggets (a nugget of fudge wrapped in chocolate, with chocolate sprinkles).
In Very Veggie Silly Stories, Mr. Lunt is shown to be a skilled animal translator.
