Candy Cane Catastrophe is the second half of the twelfth episode of season 5 of VeggieTales Kids.

Plot[]
It is Friday December 20, 2002, the last day of school before Christmas break. Mr. Jerrycone annnounces that there will be no work in school today, because the will be watching an episode of Arthur on TV. Near the middle of the Arthur episode, Mr. Nezzer collapses from eating too many candy canes. Mr. Squashy walks in the room, feeling sad, because he hasn't been given anything for Teacher Appreciation Day. Bob the Tomato gives Mr. Squashy an apple, and Mr. Squashy starts crying tears of joy, saying that this is the greatest gift he has ever gotten. and thanks Bob for the apple he gave Mr. Squashy. Bob the Tomato then raises his hand, and tells Mr. Jerrycone that Mr. Nezzer ate too many candy canes and collapsed on the floor. Mr. Jerrycone, seeing that Mr. Nezzer collapsed, screams in horror, and urgently tells one of the students to call the ambulance. Mr. Squashy also screams at the sight, and tells Mr. Nezzer that he hopes he's OK. Larry then calls the ambulance, and tells the ambulance that Mr. Nezzer ate too many candy canes, and now he collapsed. He then tells the ambulance to please take Mr. Nezzer to the hospital immediately. The ambulance tells Larry that he will take Mr. Nezzer to the hospital. After the phone call ends, Mr. Jerrycone prays for Mr. Nezzer to please come back as soon as he can, and then Mr. Jerrycone begins crying. Mr. Squashy comforts him. A 10 minutes later time card follows, and the party becomes more fun, and then the bell rings, and Bob and Larry walk to Mrs. Bradfair's class, and the episode fades out.

- This is the only episode to air on television and be released on VHS the exact same day (February 18, 2003) The episode is on the VHS of Everyone Is Special, which came out that exact same day as this episode aired.
- This episode uses the extended version of the music heard at the end of Hospitalized.
- This episode is paired with Santa Claus' Visit, however Santa Claus' Visit doesn't get released on DVD format until The Complete Fifth Season,released at the beginning of April, and it doesn't get released on VHS format until Strike Up the Band, released 364 days later on February 17, 2004.
- This episode takes place on December 20, 2002, despite airing in February 2003.
- The Arthur episode shown is Arthur's Birthday.
- The sound of Mr. Jerrycone crying was the same as it was on No Such Luck.
- The sound of Mr. Squashy saying "This is the greatest gift I have ever gotten." was recycled audio of Squidward Tentacles saying the same line from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Christmas Who."
- The sound of Mr. Jerrycone screaming, is the same sound used when Patrick Star screams in SpongeBob SquarePants episodes like Scaredy Pants, Survival of the Idiots, and I Had an Accident.
- The sound of Mr. Squashy screaming, is the same sound used when Squidward Tentacles screams in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "I Was a Teenage Gary." before Squidward says in horror "None of this would be happening if I only fed the snail."
- In the Brazilian dub, it is recycled audio of Dr. Scratchansniff screaming from the Animaniacs episode De-Zanitized, after Yakko Warner says "You are suffering from acute-warneritis," although it is edited so that his voice doesn't drown out the backing track.
