Plot[]

At the Good Health Park, Bob and Larry are playing soccer. Larry tells Bob that the park is a great place to play soccer, but also tells Bob that they have to be very careful. Bob asks Larry why they need to be careful, and then tells him that the ball is not going to break anything at the park. Larry tells Bob that there is a beehive near the area where they play, and that if the soccer ball hits the beehive, they are in serious trouble, because there are lots of bees in the hive. Bob tells Larry that they'll try their best not to hit the beehive while playing soccer. Larry kicks the ball first, and then Bob catches it. Then, Bob kicks the ball, and Larry catches it. They each take turns kicking and catching the soccer ball, until, Bob kicks the soccer ball very hard, that it accidentally knocks over the beehive. Suddenly, Bob and Larry realize that the bees might come sting them, because the beehive was knocked over. Suddenly, one hundred bees come out of the beehive. Half of the bees sting Bob the Tomato, while another half of the bees sting Larry the Cucumber. They both feel an intense pain in their bodies, but Bob feels a lot more pain than Larry feels. Both Bob and Larry begin screaming and sobbing hysterically in pain, and shout for their parents. Sure enough, Larry's mom and Bob's dad arrive, and Bob and Larry tell their parents that they each got stung by bees. Then, Bob suddenly has trouble breathing, and gasps for air, and Larry is horrified, seeing that Bob is having trouble breathing. Bob's dad is also panicked because of Bob having trouble breathing. Larry immediately calls the ambulance, and the ambulance driver asks the cucumber what his name is. The cucumber answers that his name is Larry, and he called the ambulance because he and Bob the Tomato got stung by a swarm of bees, and now Bob is having trouble breathing. Larry desperately tells the ambulance to take him and Bob to the hospital right away, but then tells good news that the hospital is only 1 minute away from Bob's house. . A meanwhile at the hospital time card follows, and Bob's doctor quickly comes in after Bob opens the hospital door, and the doctor asks Bob and Larry's family what seems to be the problem. Bob's mom explains that her son Bob, and his friend Larry each got stung by a swarm of bees, and then Bob had difficulty breathing all of sudden, and then Larry explains that he's really afraid about Bob because he had trouble breathing. Bob's doctor explains to Larry that he's glad you called the ambulance during an emergency, like when Bob was having trouble breathing after being stung by bees. The doctor explains to Bob that he's going to have to diagnose him. A 1 minute later time card follows, and the doctor explains to Bob that the reason why Bob has trouble breathing after getting stung by bees is because he is allergic to them, and that's what can cause breathing to become difficult, and then he gives Bob an EpiPen, and tells him that if he ever does get stung by a bee again, he can take the EpiPen, and feel all better. Bob takes the EpiPen, and then his breathing becomes much easier. Bob then laughs and tells the doctor he's all better now. A time card reading the next day follows, and Bob goes to Mrs. Leader's class, and he sits next to Jimmy Gourd. Bob then tells Jimmy a long story about his allergy to bees. Jimmy then tells Bob he is allergic to pollen, and that all allergies can be different. Mrs. Leader then tells the class that tomorrow, they will be taking a field trip to the library to check out their favorite books, and then the camera cuts to a shot of Good Health Elementary School, and zooms out, as Mrs. Leader continues to talk, then the episode fades out.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of the 3 VeggieTales Kids episodes that deal with allergies. The other 2 are Bob's Allergy, and Peanut Awareness, which are from season 7.
  • Madame Blueberry and Mr. Nezzer are absent in this episode. It is possible that they got a bad cold.
  • Bob later gets stung by bees again, in Bob's Allergy.
  • Mrs. Leader's class takes a trip to the library in the episode Larry's Library Book, from season 4. It is possible that this episode took place before that one, not to mention Bob still had sting marks from this episode in that episode.
  • The plot of this episode is somewhat similar to the Arthur episode Binky Goes Nuts, where Binky the bulldog is allergic to peanuts, and Dr. Kingsbury gave Binky the EpiPen, even though that Arthur episode aired almost 6 years later.
  • Dialogue for this episode was completed on April 14, 1998.

Goofs/Errors[]

  • Even though Larry the Cucumber is voiced by Oliver Grainger throughout the episode, the sound of him crying when he and Bob are stung by a swarm of bees comes from Larry's previous actor, Michael Caloz. However, the sound of Bob crying still remains correct, as it was stock audio of Arthur crying during D.W's story from the Arthur episode I'd Rather Read It Myself.
